The “Our Albums Are Released Tour” 2016
Larry Groce www.larrygroce.com Grammy Nominee & Mountain Stage host Larry Groce and his wife Sandra Groce, violist with the West Virginia Symphony, have made a new studio recording called “Live Forever.” (Produced by Don Dixon) It includes three of Larry’s original songs and eight covers, mostly songs connected to Mountain Stage over the years. This very well received recording is Groce’s first album in over two decades.
“this album demonstrates that [Larry] should not have stayed away so long. While the album consists of mostly covers of songs done by artists who appeared on the show — such as Townes Van Zandt, Jesse Winchester, and Billy Joe Shaver — the originals are the treasures. Most notably, ‘What Do You Think About (When You Think Of Love),’ which was inspired by the great American writer Raymond Carver. In it, Groce becomes the Robert Altman of song…’When the Mist Clears Away’…captures West Virginia, in all its magnificence and obscurity, like few others” Amos Perrine – No Depression

Todd Burge has a new album out as well entitled “Live from Mountain Stage 2006-2015”. The CD includes 17 tracks of original material. Larry Groce has called Burge “WV’s premier songwriter”. “Like a Randy Newman with a guitar, he’s also been described as a Warren Zevon who can evoke bizarre characters and situations….hearing Burge live takes the cake. The only other live Mountain Stage albums by a single artist are by Jesse Winchester and Laura Nyro, so Burge is in good company. “ Amos Perrine – No Depression

Comb Over A Big Bunch of Lies
3-2-2016
Some want to cry out
Some want to leave
Some want to punch the face of their enemy
Just for what they believe
Some will take it lying down
Some will never let it die
The winds of change
Have blown a comb over
A big bunch of lies
We all remember
Like it was yesterday
All of the hatred
That ruled from state to state
But reason prevailed
On all that did divide
And now the winds of change
Have blown a comb over
A big bunch of lies
So, what should we do?
If not you, then who?
Stand up and speak out
Just share your mood
Think of the children
And who they look up to
Don’t sit in silence
With that anger in your eyes
As the winds of change
Blow this comb over
A big bunch of lies
The winds of change
Have blown a comb over
A big bunch of lies
My new year's resolution is to play a show near you. Where are you? What's your favorite music venue? I'm looking for "hush" spaces and am looking forward to a great year! Thank you. Todd
